Savanna update

Press release regarding the recent closure of the Savanna.
As some users will be aware, sportscotland's football and tennis facility at its National Sports Training Centre, Inverclyde has been experiencing drainage difficulties. This is due in part to the heavy rainfall but also because of the age of the surface. While Centre staff have made sterling efforts to make the surface playable and safe, this has not proved possible. In the meantime, user groups have been offered alternative facilities - such as the 11 a-side and 5 a-side pitches - when available.
We are involved in discussions with specialists to find a long term solution to this issue and we will provide regular updates on progress. In the meantime we apologise to Centre users for the ongoing impact of this problem on their activities.
